The scientific exploration of the unique ecological features and values of alkaline waters falls short of the knowledge on our rivers and other standing waters. The lack of information must be eliminated in line with the importance of our sodic areas.

• Our international mission

Within the EU the most significant sodic habitats are found in Hungary. Therefore Hungary has a community level responsibility in their research and protection. All those data, which has not been published yet—after their systematization—has to be made public worldwide. Furthermore, exploration of the less known areas has to be promoted as well.

• To promote the protection and restoration

The already existing scientific knowledge has be converted into environmental protection and nature conservation practice. The available practical experience needs to be summarized and appropriate surveys and experiments need to be carried out to answer the practical questions brought up. Ongoing management and restoration activities need to be monitored professionally.

• Interpretation

In addition to scientific and professional activities awareness raising, public education, promoting environmental education and development of sustainable tourism also need our contribution. Among other things, this home page aims to serve these goals as well.
